About the Symposium

As a post-genomics tool, metabolomics is a young and vibrant field of science. Novel techniques for acquiring and analysing data from metabolomic analysis continue to emerge that are useful for a variety of biological studies. These underpinning techniques are necessary if metabolomics is ever to reach its ultimate goal of analysing every single metabolite produced by a living cell/organism.

Bringing together the top groups in Australasia and worldwide to share their work, understanding, and plans, will provide the synergy required to take this field to the next level and to promote cooperation between different groups. While metabolomics meetings and conferences have primarily been concentrated in the Northern Hemisphere, significant investment on metabolomics research has recently taken place in Australasia. Thus, we have chosen a beautiful location to gather those who are actively involved in research across the basic to applied aspects of metabolomics in Australasia. Those interested from outside Australasia are also most welcome to participate.
